HERE AND NOW AND THEN is finally, erm, here. You can hold the physical hardcover or you can download it digitally to read on your phone (my admitted preferred method of reading these days), or you can listen to the audiobook.
Getting to this point was a journey in itself. And while I said my thank-yous back when I got my book deal, another year-plus has passed and many more people have helped me along the way. So let's take a moment to shout out to everyone who's been so important from fall 2017 until January 29, 2019.
First off, my creative team. When I thought this manuscript couldn't get pushed any further, my editor Michelle Meade did exactly that -- and her choices were so simple-yet-brilliant I don't know how EVERYONE overlooked them before. My agent Eric Smith, of course, for his continued support during all stages of freak out. Margot Mallinson, my current editor who helped carry through the final stages of production. And my publicity team of Meredith Barnes and Shara Alexander -- I don't think there needs to be much more to say given the giant list o' lists and early buzz. Their goal was to get this book in front of eyes early on and they did just that.
From a media perspective, a huge thank you to my favorite Washington Capitals fan Donya Abramo of Hypable, who helped pull together the cover reveal that kicked off the early buzz. Also Eileen Lee, the bookstagrammer known as BookCatPin, also was critical in that stage as she hosted the first ARC giveaway.
Asking for blurbs is terribly awkward, and I'm lucky enough that some really gracious and generous people have helped out: Fran Wilde, Delilah S. Dawson, Kat Howard, Cass Morris, and Michael Moreci. I am stoked that your blurbs are on my cover, and I'm even more thrilled to call you all friends.
This has not been a smooth path; nothing in publishing is. In fact, publishing is SUPER FUCKING WEIRD, and it seems like the only way to make any sense of it is to ask those who've been there before. Because I have an engineer brain, I'm the type of person who asks a billion questions and needs some sort of concrete reassurance to calm my nerves; this wonderful group of people have been the best support system, or at least they haven't gotten sick me yet: Fran Wilde (seriously, the world would be a better place if there were more Fran Wildes out there), Wendy Heard, Kate Elliott, Diana Urban, Randy Ribay, Fonda Lee, Peng Shepherd, and Matt Kressel. Thank you all for telling me to "shut up and stop apologizing for everything." As a Very Asian Person, sometimes I need to hear that.
And for you -- the generic you that is reading this -- whether you've bought my book, read an excerpt, talked about it, retweeted something about it, or simply thought about the very fact that it exists, thank you for letting my adventures in space and time occupy a little corner of your mind. Please enjoy HERE AND NOW AND THEN -- and stay tuned, because some really exciting stuff is around the corner.
