It's been a while since I've posted, hasn't it? A lot has happened since then, but a lot of it has been "under the hood" stuff that is only interesting to people involved with publishing or the craft of writing. But in the meantime, there are a few notable announcements.
First, I've sold a short story -- my first short story, in fact. A big thanks to fellow #TeamRocks member Laurel Amberdine for encouraging me to try this different format. I'm so used to thinking in 90k words that truncating down to 5k was a challenge, but it's shown me a whole new side of publishing (one that admittedly moves a little faster). My story Anonymous, where a supervillain goes to an AA meeting only to discover support from the unlikeliest of sources, appears in the June 2017 (Volume 1, Number 3) of Storyteller. You can purchase it for the next few weeks at the Kindle Newsstand. After that, back issues will be available individually.
Second, though I'm not sure if it really matters to the general public, I've been accepted into the Codex Writers Group. Codex is a group of science fiction and fantasy writers that requires certain criteria for membership.
Finally, I've got more work coming for geek site The Portalist. First up is a travel guide for geek vacation spots. In July, another article went live: an in-depth look at why story matters in video games. This one also cross-posted to my old stomping grounds at The Mary Sue.
